The Importance of Positive Surroundings

Your thoughts become your words, and your words become who you are.

It’s likely that, if you could, you’d teleport to a peaceful island with bountiful coconut trees and a cooling ocean breeze. Or, if water isn’t your thing, maybe you’d prefer a rocky terrain with peaks as tall as the eye can see.

Your thoughts become your words, and your words become who you are.

The importance of keeping positive surroundings is simple. You don’t have to climb trees to eat coconuts. You don’t have to climb to the tallest mountain peak to see. Yet, let it serve as a metaphor, just like, “you are what you eat.”

When you surround yourself with positivity, it influences you like a breath of air. Your surroundings can affect your thoughts, words, and your ability to care.

Your thoughts become your words, and your words become who you are.

The idea that our surroundings affect our thoughts, our words, and, eventually, our character is not only a metaphor; it’s a fact. Our campers frequently display this chain reaction of positive surroundings.

Our campers are constantly engaging in inspiring interactions through their words and a shared sense of art-admiration. From poems to words of encouragement, campers like Keonwoo from camp New Delhi and Artur from camp Lima spread tons of support and inspiration to their fellow artists.

Artur is always engaged while listening to his friends’ creations. He consistently shows through emoticons that he supports the artwork created by his camp-mates. When it comes to a positive environment, Artur is a trusted camper who will go out of his way to make others feel welcomed.

Keonwoo, another trusted camper, is a big inspiration to others, too. Keonwoo makes incredible stick-figure animations. These animations are not only fun to watch, but they also resemble something we have never seen before. Soon enough, after viewing Keonwoo’s creations, other campers began to hone their animation skills as well.

Our campers feel safe to be their authentic selves and express their true art form through positive interactions. When children engage in positive and inspiring environments, they are pushed to create more and learn more.

You choose your destination: Are you surrounding yourself with positive thinkers? Do your friends and colleagues inspire you to do better? These are lifelong skills that will be used for eternity.
