Kids and animals, the forever friends
I bet most people know kids are crazy about animals. No exceptions to our camp kids. They love to use animals as inspirations for their creations. Talking about their favorite animals gets kids bond well with one another. At our camp, each time someone shows drawings/paintings or stories about animals, kids’ eyes sparkle. They are so excited to hear about the animals in the creations. Our 6 year-old boy, Juyoung, knows so much about each animal. When this 5-year-old Cami showed her hamster tower (or house) she made, he spoke about how mommy hamsters use their cheek pouches to carry theirs babies. Then, Cami and the other kids started giggling and Cami proudly said, “Mommy alligators do that, too”. Another 5 years-old boy, Josh, thinks a tiger and a lion can become best friends if they share food: a fried egg and a piece of bacon. Coco and Cassidy, these lovely sisters, have been making super cute dog drawings of different breeds. They are basically making a catalogue to convince their mom to get them a dog some time. BTW, Cami doesn’t have a hamster, either. Cami’s making-a-hamster-house was an innocent and cheeky effort to convince her mom to buy her a hamster.
Maybe time for you to get your kid(s) a nice furry friend? :)

Challenge 1
Picasso once said, “I paint objects as I think them, not as I see them.” You see living creatures and objects all around you. What do you think when you see birds? Use your heart but eyes!
Challenge 2
Do you guys know about Jack Ma and Elon Musk? Jack Ma is the founder of Alibaba, the Chinese version of Amazon, and Elon Musk is the founder of Tesla and SpaceX. They had a big discussion at a conference in China about the future of AI: in what way will AI change the world?
Jack Ma thinks humans don’t need to have fear about machines becoming smarter and more powerful than humans but Elon Musk does worry a lot about how AI will be much smarter than us and there will be some consequences. What are your thoughts? What do you think will happen if we develop further AI/machines and other advanced technologies?
Challenge 3
There are some beautiful and heart-warming quotes that a lot of famous people have said. Winnie, the Pooh, and his friends have said some of those. What do you want to say to the people who might be suffering from depression, illness and many other hard situations including Covid 19? Can you develop your own quote with some nice, encouraging illustration?
