About Elisa Insua

Argentina's Elisa Insua, visual arts extraordinaire, is joining our TaleTree fam to host a very special workshop!

Featured in Vogue Spain, BBC, and galleries all around the world, Elisa's artwork looks intricately opulent from a distance, but take a few steps closer and you'll find that she uses discarded materials from the junkyard to create her artwork.

What to prepare for the event

Preperation.png

Finding new life for mundane objects around us is not only a wonderful way to explore creativity but also to reconsider how we can take care of our Earth and all that's within it.

In preparation for the event, please see a list of materials below, that you can start collecting from in and around your homes. We will be giving new life to these materials and turning them into lavish artworks ready for the TaleTree Museum of Art! ;-) TaleTree parents and guardians, we're looking forward to seeing you get your hands dirty for this camp as well!

The list of materials for you to start gathering:

  • Broken/old/incomplete toys

  • Bottle caps

  • Shampoo, makeup and personal care empty packaging

  • Wine corks

  • Discarded pieces of fabric, buttons

  • Used-up markers/pens

  • Empty candy boxes

  • Broken/old pieces of beads, costume jewelry

  • Coins of different countries

  • Old keys and keychains

  • Obsolete technology (cassettes, CDs, diskettes, headphones, earphones, etc.)

  • Screws, nuts and small metallic objects

  • And basically any small object that they find at home and that they think could become artwork!

As tools, they will need:

- A surface on which to work (ideally a piece of wood, cardboard, MDF or stretched canvas measuring about 50 x 35 cm or more)

- Some kind of glue (it can be a hot glue-gun, wood glue, Elmer's glue, or tacky glue)
