A Whole New Year

Partners

Something we love about a lot of our camp kiddos, is how much they enjoy creating art pieces with other people, such as their friends or family. They create such beautiful pieces, and they always seem even more excited about their artwork if it was something they had made with someone else. It is really special to us when they tell us their mom or dad helped them to come up with a creation, or even helped them create it. Asking for help is never something to feel bad about, and it is great that kids are able to acknowledge that sometimes they need help, and they are willing to ask for it. We encourage the kids to ask questions, and ask for help, because the more they know, the better!

Non Traditional Art

Many of the kids like to use outside materials to create their art. They ditch the paint, pens, markers, and pencils, and reach for something more exciting. Food and clay! This week a lot of our camp members shared their creations with others, and a lot of them were made from food, which was really cool to see. During Christmas time we had a lot of gingerbread houses and cookies, but they go above and beyond these things. One of our campers created the TaleTree friends out of biscuits, another boy made characters from his favorite book out of dough, and one girl made a beautiful leaf out of clay. It is amazing to see how they can put their imaginations to work, and how they are capable of thinking outside of the box to come up with a new creation. We cannot wait to see what other new materials they use to make new art.
