Real World Creativity

Most of the time, the word ‘creativity’ is associated with those that are artistically inclined. Here at TaleTree, we aim to shift that narrative to encompass all kinds of intelligences.

This week, our older kids were challenged with the task of helping revive and heal the coral reefs that are bleached from environmental hazards. This challenge led to an array of creative responses and conversations about how our talents contribute to our communities in different ways. Some kids imagined a world where they could scuba dive with special rubberized paint to heal and brighten up bleached coral again. One invented special machines that provide warmth for the coral and food for the animal life surrounding it. Another created a system where fishermen, scientists, and scuba divers join forces to create and distribute a healing solution through a pipe.

Each of these examples contain multitudes of intelligences ranging from spatial and naturalistic to logical and kinesthetic. What other kinds of intelligences can you spot in our TaleTree kiddos?

Challenge 1

You wake up after a weird dream and find a mysterious box in the middle of your room. You muster up the courage to open the box and find ______…

Challenge 2

Did you know that coral in the ocean are living organisms? They are also home to hundreds and thousands of ocean creatures.

When they become too stressed from environmental changes, they become “bleached” and lose their nutrients, and all the creatures living there lose their homes. Still, coral can be quite resilient and recover their colorful selves with the right kind of support. How would you help to heal the bleached coral reefs? What kind of support system can you create for the animals that have lost their homes in the coral?

Challenge 3

Design your own amusement park with all kinds of crazy magical roller coasters, games, and food stands.

Kids’ own creations
