Art, art, and more art!

What is art? The dictionary defines art as the expression or application of human creative skill and imagination, typically in a visual form such as painting or sculpture, producing works to be appreciated primarily for their beauty or emotional power. Although the definition states that art is typically in a visual form, art can be anything! Songs are an example of art that are not visual. When we think visual, we tend to think of paintings, drawings, or sculptures, but another form of visual art can be poems, stories, and lyrics. These all must be written down for a person to see. The beauty of written artwork is that it conveys images within it. We can see the words on the page, but we do not feel them until we read them.

So many of our TaleTree friends love to write poems, stories, books, and songs. One of our campers, Ruby wrote a poem about being nice to the Earth, and saving the oceans from pollution, and another one of our campers, Sasha, asked if she could turn the poem into a song. It is amazing how they are able to work together. Sasha saw the beauty in Ruby’s words, and wanted to add music to it. Another one of our campers, Seah, wrote a story/poem that blew us all away. She wrote about the night sky, and how it makes the girl in her story wonder about where her name came from. It was very well written, and we loved to see Seah take on a new form of art, as she typically tends to stick to drawing. We hope Seah’s story will encourage you all to try to write a story of your own. We absolutely love when you come up with stories that go with your drawings. For future, maybe you can try to write these stories down, and build on them later down the line.

Art can truly be anything that you put your mind to. You all amaze us everyday with your creations, and we are constantly excited to see what new ones you have to share for us. We see all different creations from paintings, drawings, legos, stories, cardboard homes, digital art, and so much more. Welcome Year 2023!

Wow, Christmas is already over and so is the year 2022. Have you had a good year? A little bird told me your year 2023, the year of the Rabbit, will be awesome, too 👍 Let's welcome 2023 by creating a beautiful poster, card, or calendar!

What’s in Rainforests?

Do you know rainforests are so important for the world? There are so many trees and plants in the rainforest that absorb carbon dioxide and greenhouse gases. You can find a lot of wildlife animals there as well. What if you walked into the Amazon rainforest? What animals would you encounter? Draw at least three animals you would meet there.

A New Form of Earth?

Sasha said, "If I were a queen of the universe, I’d probably terraform the earth into a funny shape like this one and see if gravity would still work." If you were the creator of the universe, what form of earth would like to make?
