Alien Companions
Each week, our Creative Camp members are faced with all kinds of wild stories, scenarios, and adventures through our weekly challenges. This week’s challenges allowed us to share about everything from how to greet strange aliens to building secret gadgets as protection against danger. These are most definitely not normal, everyday situations, but our campers are able to imagine up how these scenarios could play out in their own minds.
Joshua had a friendly conversation with an alien after he casually took a trip to outer space, and Eden met a monster who tried so hard to be scary and gruff while it couldn’t help but be a complete sweetheart. Although aliens and monsters are often depicted as creatures to fear, our campers reimagine them to be kind companions. Joshua and Eden expressed a sense of joy, as if they could meet a new friend with new experiences to share, rather than frowning on the sense of otherness.
Instead of approaching new ideas and creatures with fear, our campers chose kindness and friendship in their storylines. Even as they ventured into uncharted territory, our campers turned a mysterious scenario into one that displays love and acceptance for those who may be misunderstood or simply undefined within our own understandings of the world.
TaleTree’s camp members truly have such kind hearts! How will you choose love and acceptance throughout this week?
