Why Waste When You Can Create?

The world as we know it provides the heart of human existence when we breathe, eat, and frolic upon its natural resources. Without our planet, our kind would not be able to celebrate life with others around us. Some humans may cherish our world and its plentiful offerings. However, others remain critical of how human impact may be more harmful than good.

As adults, it can be scary to ponder what life will look like for our future generations. As conflicting narratives about the cause of climate change arise, we still struggle to console ourselves with a proper solution for a healthier planet. However, one fact will remain true: future generations deserve a healthy world.

This week, campers and captains discovered our contribution toward a healthier and resource-efficient planet! During camp Singapore, a discussion about the importance of recycling materials, such as toys, prompted one child’s bright idea. “I don’t need to buy toys,” she exclaimed, “but I make them!”.

At a young age, these campers can understand the idea of creating a non-wasteful community by producing their toys and goodies. Camp captains were delighted to see innovative creations such as friendly scarecrows made with straws, delicious homemade cupcakes sold at the local park, and fluffy mini animals glued together with googly eyes and cotton. We are happy to see their inventive imaginations soar while engaging in environmentally resourceful play.

Living Next Door to a Zoo?

While some kids might think living next door to a zoo in a small treehouse is an ideal home, others may have different ideas. We asked campers to share their DREAM HOME ideas in this challenge.

The Yin Yang
