The Magic of Music
What is Music?
The dictionary definition of music is: vocal or instrumental sounds that are combined in such a way as to produce beauty of form, harmony, and expression of emotion. The majority of our kids at TaleTree love music. A few of them share similar interests in K-pop, and a lot of them play instruments. The most common played instrument at TaleTree is the piano. Many of them say their parents force them to take piano lessons, but after our most recent Special Camp with Eugene, I think they all found a new appreciation for it. Eugene showed us what you can do with the piano, and how a song can express so many more things that just sounds. He truly inspired all of us, and it is such an amazing feeling being able to find a new love for something through the help of another person.
One thing that resonated most during the camp is how music is a form of art. At TaleTree, many of you tend to think art must be something you can draw, paint, build, or create, but that is not true. Music is considered art in the same way that a painting is. Music allows for people to express themselves in many different ways. We have many music lovers here at TaleTree. Our oldest member, Sasha, writes her own songs, as well as sings them. She has a beautiful voice, and her writing skills are impeccable. Sophie has also written her own songs, but most importantly, she makes her own covers of songs with one of her best friends. Having a love for music is beautiful because it allows for people to get to know you in a new, and different way. Jayden showed us one of his favorite songs the other day, and it was so fascinating to see what kind of music he likes. Many members of his camp group also enjoyed the song. This goes to show that music can help to bring people together. Maybe you can start doing some more music based art and submit your ideas to TaleTree! We love seeing all different types of creations, especially new ideas.
Sweet Kids
During our camp this week, Hayim shared a picture of a breakfast that she made and brought to her mom in bed. She put together all of her mom’s favorite things, and she told us it made her mom’s day. When we asked the other kids if they had ever made breakfast for their parents, they all said yes. We were so happy to see how sweet all of our kids are. They care so much for their parents, and continue to go out of their way to do nice things for them. It is a great way to return the favor for all of the wonderful things our parents do for us! Try to think of some other ways you can make your parents days better!
