In the Future
What do you want to be when you grow up?
Do you have any idea what you want to be when you grow up? If you do not, there is no need to fear. You still have so much time to decide, and what you may want to do may change as you get older. A few of our friends at TaleTree have occupations in mind, and it is really cool to see what interests them. There are so many career choices to choose from, that it is hard to narrow it down to one. We assume all of you at TaleTree love art, and there are many jobs you could pursue with that. You can be an artist, a musician, a song writer, and so much more. Two of our camp members are really into houses and want to pursue something with that when they are older. Jamilah loves designing the insides of homes, so we introduced her to interior designing during camp on Friday. She loved the idea of this, and said she hopes one day she will be able to decorate her own home exactly how she wants. Instead of decorating the inside of houses, our camp member, Davina, wants to do the outside. She hopes to be an architect, where she will create models of what houses will look like once they are finished being built. It is amazing that they already have in mind what they want to do. Some of our other campers may have a few occupations in mind. We have a large group of animal lovers, so maybe they will want to be a veterinarian, a zoologist, a wildlife biologist, and so much more! If you do not know what you want to do at all, you can think of the question “What do you want to be when you grow up?” more as, what do you want to experience when you are older? What kind of person do you want to be? What are you excited to learn about? There are so many ways to find what interests you, and eventually one of these interests will be something you want to spend the rest of your life doing.
Care for the Environment
We know you guys have heard this many times before, but caring for the environment is very important. Our Earth is what keeps us alive, and we must do everything in our power to also keep it alive. One big step that we can take, is to try to eliminate our use of single use plastics. If you do not already have one, consider buying a reusable water bottle. This is such a simple fix, and it saves the planet little by little. Another thing you can do, is try to reuse your old toys to make something new out of them. This mainly goes for Lego blocks. Instead of buying all of the new Lego sets, maybe see how you can make something new out of the Legos you already have! Another great way to help the planet is by hand me downs! If you have older friends, siblings, or cousins, it is great to get clothes from them once they grow out of them. This helps to slow the issue of fast fashion by passing clothes onto someone new rather than just throwing them out. It also helps with over consumption, preventing the landfills from filling up too much.
I’m Cody. I Stand for Autonomy!
Our TaleTree friend, Cody stands for autonomy. Autonomy means I can do things on my own without having to be told. What are some of the things you do on your own that you are so proud of?
Vote for Me!
A president of a country or a group or other roles in organizations are chosen through "voting". Sophie wants people to vote for her, so she created a poster. How about you? Can you create a poster to encourage people to vote for you? You can maybe write down some reasons why they should vote for you, too :)
When You Wake Up One Morning …
When you wake up one morning, your parents are gone. You wonder where they are. Have aliens kidnapped them? What happened to them? Imagine what happened and what you would do!
Rushmore Stands for Authenticity
Rushmore is a bit clumsy. He falls often and gets small scrapes on his body. However, he springs back up and explores his surroundings. Rushmore loves to fish. He just loves eating fish. He dreams to open a fish restaurant when he grows up. What about you? Tell us something unique about you!
My Avatar!
Have you already made your own avatar? An avatar is an icon representing a person or a thing. Take a look at some examples of our friends in TaleTree. Jayden, Cassidy, Jaeah, Sophie, Sasha, and Adelyn have made some figures that could be their avatars. Can you create your own avatar that represent you well?
