From the Nightmare Before Christmas

Halloween is here and our campers are so excited! A lot of their creations this week have been Halloween themed.

When breaking down the festivities of Halloween, it may sound extremely weird to someone who has never heard of it. Carving pumpkins, dressing up in costumes, decorating your house, knocking on doors for candy; it all sounds like a dream!

Our campers seem to really love Halloween. The act of carving a pumpkin seems to be a fan favorite, as well as drawing halloween themed things such as pumpkins, scarecrows, bats, and more. It is amazing how they can take something so simple like a holiday, and turn it into an amazing creation.

Not only is Halloween fun for all of the festivities associated with it, but it is a time when we can really start to see the seasons change. The leaves begin to turn beautiful red, brown, and yellow, and we slowly get to watch them fall. The air turns to a nice chill, causing the color changing leaves to blow away in the wind.

A Love for Animals

Aside from Halloween, our camp kids have truly shown their love for animals this week. Many have created drawings of all different types of animals ranging from dragons to dogs. A few of our camp members like to pretend that they have a pet dog even if they do not. It is amazing what they can do with their imaginations. One camp member, Lily, said that she calls her sister the dog of family, because she wants a pet dog but does not have one. This goes to show how creative kids can be, and how they can turn the tiniest things into something so great and happy. There is so much in life to be happy for, and that is greatly shown through all of the kids creations.

My Memory

Our friend Uni remembers going to the park with her mother on her planet. Do you have a memory that is special to you?

If I Were Invisible…

If you had the super power to be invisible for a day, where would you go? What would you do?
