Fun Weekends

Many of our camp members had awesome weekends last week. It was great hearing all about them. Some of our members said they did not really do much on the weekend, but that they still had a good time. That is what is so great about weekends. Even if you do not do anything crazy, they are still fun because you get a chance to relax and do whatever you want that you may not have had time for during the week. Our camp members always find beauty in the simple things, and we love being able to view the world through their eyes.

One of our camp members, Hayim, went to a Holi festival last weekend. She told us all about it, and then we got to explain a little bit more about the meaning of the festival, and the culture behind it to the kids who had never heard of it. We love being able to learn new things from our camp kids, and we love even more when they can teach each other something new.

History Lesson

Our camp member, Sophie, drew Coco Chanel inspired outfits. It is amazing that at such a young age she is inspired by her, and has a passion for fashion. Her drawings prompted a very informational lesson on the importance of Coco Chanel in history, and how she helped changed women's lives for the better. Sophie’s drawings depicted outfits created by Coco Chanel many years ago, and it was fascinating that she focused on those rather than the new Chanel items that have come out more recently. Coco Chanel greatly impacted history, freeing women from tight corsets and lace frills, and offering them wide leg pants, suits, and sailor shirts instead.

World Down Syndrome Day

March 21 was World Down Syndrome Day. Down syndrome is a chromosomal condition that affects intellectual development, facial and physical appearance. Despite these differences, we are all human, and we love one another unconditionally. Can you create a poster that supports the idea that “being different is cool”?

Capture Beautiful Moments

If you pay close attention to your surroundings, you will notice very beautiful things. What is the most outstanding thing you saw this week? Can you capture it with a camera?
