What is Beauty?
Beautiful Creations
What is beauty? Beauty comes in so many shapes and sizes, and it looks different to all people. Art is the same way. What might be beautiful to one person may be ugly to another, but this does not make it ugly overall. Art is a super special thing, and it is amazing to see all of the different things you guys create. All of your creations are beautiful, but they are beautiful to each person in a different way. For example someone may find the whole drawing beautiful, while someone else only likes the colors used. This does not mean the drawing is not beautiful, this means we all see things in different ways.
On Friday, when Sasha was presenting one of the drawings she had done, many people in the chat were commenting that it was beautiful. When we asked them what made it beautiful, they all had different answers. Some of them said it was the colors she used, the way she shaded the drawing, or the eyes of the girl. They all agreed that she had created a wonderful picture, but they all found it beautiful for different reasons.

Thinking Outside of the Box
Have you ever wanted to create something but did not know what? This is when you need to think outside of the box. Look around your house and gather a ton of random things, and see what you can make out of those. One of our camp members, Davina, is amazing at doing this. She always makes awesome creations out of “trash”, such as a school locker/ backpack made out of an old box. The backpack, when opened, looked like a locker, and contained all of the things one would keep in a locker. Although it looked like a locker, she attached string to close it, and made straps out of ribbon so that she could also wear it, making it also perform as a backpack. We love when our campers reuse things like boxes or newspaper to create their artwork.
Another one of our members, Chloe, also thought outside of the box. She needed a sketchbook, but did not have one on her, so she made her own! She did so by folding up some paper she found, and then stapling the pages together. This is such a great idea for if you run out of pages in your notebook, or do you not have one on you, and you need somewhere to write stuff down.
Storytelling Through Crafts
There are various ways to tell a story. You can do so by creating scenes, which is also a method used to make movies. Can you make your scenes to tell a story?
