Growing a Garden
The Fun Behind Gardens
There are so many benefits to growing your own garden. The first one is that you get to eat your own food, and have your own flowers! Another benefit is that you do not have to go to the store to buy fruits and veggies because they are growing at your house! Although maintaining gardens can be hard work, they are definitely worth it. We often compare plants and animals here at TaleTree. Animals require much more care, but plants require care too. If you cannot have a pet, try to grow your own plant. They need attention too, and must be watered the right amount to make sure they stay alive. One of our camp members, Chan, showed us a bed of sunflowers he just started growing. He also showed us the crops his mom is growing, which consisted of different types of lettuce, and many herbs such as thyme, lavender, mint, and parsley. Another one of our camp members, Noelle, said she used to grow watermelons and green onions in her backyard. Green onions are one of the easiest things to grow! If your parents buy them from the store, once they are done using them, you can put the ends (where is it white and growing roots) in a small cup of water. You will notice them grow a ton in just the span on one week! If you want to grow something of your own, you should definitely try it out! Jenna shared with us that she hopes one day to grow a bunch of fruit. You guys are not too young to start now! Being able to watch a garden grow and flourish is one of the best things. It is a great feeling knowing that you are keeping those plants alive, and one day you will get to use them! Share with us what kind of plants you would like to grow! If you already grow some plants of your own, take some pictures and upload them to your TaleTree portal!
