Comfort Friends
Animals are a staple of all of our camp sessions, every single week. Without fail, the kids will share fascinating tidbits about whales, flamingos, komodo dragons, bald-headed eagles, and more. It’s endearing to see their excitement to learn and share about these animals. This week in particular, many kids shared about the creations, objects, and animals that bring them comfort.
Some friends lovingly wrapped their stuffed animals in warm fleece while others spoke highly of wise, majestic creatures in a fantasy land. Regardless of whether these animals were real or not, so much of these conversations revolved around nurturing and caring for these creatures that are special to the kids. After countless conversations about their relationships to animals, it’s easy to see that they find comfort but also learn how to give comfort through their relationships with animals.
These conversations about caring for others may stem from their love of animals, but our campers truly have a natural inclination to comfort others, express genuine care, and to find solace in their peers as well. Thanks to their love for animals, our team at TaleTree sees genuine growth in how our campers build consideration and care for one another as well as for oneself.
What kind of lessons on nurturing and care do you see in the creations below?
