Creative Genius

Our camp captains will often notice how our younger members are more likely to be fearless and take risks when it comes to their creativity. The older they get the more conscious they are likely to be of what others may or may not think. This has been a common topic revisited by our older camp members who sometimes resign their creative explorations to worrying about how they are “not an artist” or are “bad at drawing”.

With diligence, our members in Camp Rome have completely transformed how they perceive their creativity. One member is becoming an amazing digital artist after some months feeling challenged. Another member is using her talents to spread awareness of social justice topics like public health and community. Yet another has gone from feeling unmotivated about any creative pursuits to creating an incredibly peaceful, beautiful digital collage.

No matter how much doubt or concern they had, they overcame it to arrive at this place of sharing important, meaningful conversations through their creatively genius minds. The initial doubt may not be fully shattered, but they can now have more confidence in themselves that they have the power to overcome the negative thoughts within and trust in their own creative genius.

”Creativity is intelligence having fun.”
- Albert Einstein
