What is Imagination?
Imagination
Imagination, according to its dictionary definition, is the faculty or action of forming new ideas, or images or concepts of external objects not present to the senses. Our kids at TaleTree use their imaginations every single day, and many of them do not even realize it.
On Friday, during camp, we were asking the kids if they could tell us something that is always going to be with them, aside from their family. We had a large variety of answers such as their special blankets or stuffed animals, their friends, and so on. One answer that really stood out to us was that of our camp member, Aaron. When it was his turn to answer the question he said, “Something that is always going to be with me is my imagination.” We loved hearing this, because it is so true! His quote sparked a new conversation in which we talked about how important their imagination is. We reminded them that they should continue to use it and cherish it everyday because they want to make sure it never goes away. As we get older, sometimes our imagination weakens, but if we continue to use it, and continue to spark our creativity and create art as much as we can, it will only get stronger. Our imagination is such a valuable thing, and it is amazing how everyone’s imagination is different.
Easter
Easter is such a fun holiday for children, and we loved seeing all of the artwork centered around it. Many of the kids love to draw animals, and one we see a lot of are bunnies. The drawings of bunnies tied in perfectly to this week because of Easter. Not only did we see drawings of bunnies, but one of our members, Cassidy, made a bunny out of a toilet paper roll. She even put a mask on the bunny to correspond with the times we are living through right now.
It is incredible how knowledgable the kids are about what is going on around them. These are hard times for everyone, but they never fail to show up and put a smile on our faces. It was really cute to see the bunny with the mask because it made the masks seem more normal. Almost every kid in her group said their favorite part of the creation was the mask because it was something creative, and different, yet also very normalized in today’s time. We love seeing how they can include the outside world into their artwork.

What Encanto Do You Wish For?
Many people love the movie Encanto. In Spanish, the word Encanto means, “charm or enchantment.” If you were enchanted with magic, what would happen to you?
Planting is Fun!
Have you ever planted something on your own? Keeping a plant is like keeping a pet. Can you plant something you will be taking care of without help from anyone else? Show us what you plant!
Observe Different Poses
When drawing, it can be challenging to show different poses. Use a person, an animal, or a plant and show different poses from them.
